ModerateAbout this EventThese weekday walks take advantage of the long summer evenings, combining a scenic hike with a chance to discover some of the Peak District’s fascinating history. This route explores Bamford Moor and Bamford Edge, where we'll learn about the area's ancient past, from prehistoric activity on the moor to the centuries of millstone quarrying that shaped the dramatic gritstone edge we see today. Timed to coincide with sunset, the walk offers sweeping views across Ladybower Reservoir, the Hope Valley and the Dark Peak.A circular route of around 7km on a mixture of footpaths, moorland trails and rocky paths. The walk is classed as moderate, with a steady climb onto the moor and some uneven ground in places. Alternative roadside parking can be found close to the entrance. This walk is classed as moderate and suitable for most but some hill walking experience would be preferable.Toilets:There are toilets at the car park but they could be closed by the time we arrive. If you need to go whilst we're walking, I'll point out 'wild wee' spots for us to squat in private!Safety:The whole point of our walks is that they are enjoyable and memorable experiences for everyone so we will keep to a slow and steady pace. It's about taking in the views, learning about the history and geology of the area and being in nature, not about rushing to the finish line. Having said that, you are responsible for your own health and safety and with all outdoor activities, there can be risks involved. If you are unsure as to whether you are fit to come on this walk, please either consult your doctor or let us know your concerns. Please inform us of any medical conditions prior to the walk. Every participant MUST complete a Medical & Disclaimer form a minimum of 24 hours before the event begins. This will be sent via email so please look out for it.Our leaders are qualified Hill and Moorland and Mountain Leaders and level 3 Outdoor First Aid trained so they will be on hand in case of an emergency.Dogs:Dogs are more than welcome to come along but please ensure they remain on leads at all times.Refund Policy*:Refunds will only be given if the event is cancelled (see below). If you can no longer attend you are more than welcome to sell your ticket to someone else but please let us know if you do so.
